An invaluable resource heading into CFA exam prep season

Ideally you'll want to read it in December, use what you learn in this book to optimize your study time in the months ahead, and work forward from there to exam day in June.
While this book doesn't have any material that will allow you to answer even a single question on the actual CFA exams (sorry, no shortcuts allowed), the insights offered on how to prepare for the exam are likely to be the difference between moving yourself into the passing group of test takers and failure. One critical example: the 300-hour study rule is a useless bar to apply to your study plan. That number represents the average total study time for test takers, but as we all know the average CFA exam test taker fails. To pass the test, you will actually need to study quite a bit more (the author provides some estimates in the book for each exam level). If you're serious about becoming a charterholder, this book is a very good start.

A comprehensive book with minute attention to details

I'm planning to sit for the L1 in June'17 session. As a result like almost everyone else here in my institution got into a lecture class on CFA, but those sessions were not maintaining the pace I expected. Hence was desperately searching for some materials or books which will outline exactly how to study without any nonsense. I found two books in Amazon (kindle edition) and this is by far the best one. I don't know the write beforehand nor am I a member of any forums and yes I acknowledge that many informations are there floating around the web about how to gain the charter but it's scattered and time consuming and too many a cook will spoil the broth; as a result I cannot thank the writer enough for giving a study schedule along with how to do every single thing required for the charter along with referring to some affordable study packages. You are a great find Ms. Rachel and from January 14 I'll start my Odyssey for L1 to the point you prescribed and I'm confident enough to achieve success, that's how much your words of caution along with encouragement can have on a newbie.

WOW!!! No one should start CFA preparation without reading this one. It was an enjoyable experience to finish the book in one night. spending one day on this book will save weeks of searching. This is a comprehensive guide with practical advice. I am highly recommending this book.
