Map for improvement

I have been doing Lean Six Sigma work in a variety of organizations for over 30 years. I have attended the Univ. of Mich Lean Manufacturing course, am a certified 6 Sigma Master Black Belt, a Certified Performance Technologist, and have a Masters in HROD. Having just recently participated in an Advanced Statistics Course in which I served as a coach for those in my company's Black Belt program, and in which we taught them how to use Minitab 17, I have to say this guide is THE easiest, the highest quality, and the most comprehensive, concise, and clear presentation of Lean/6 Sigma I have ever seen. I bought a copy and downloaded the data sets and OpEx customized Minitab toolbar. What wonderful resources - all part of the price of the book! GRAB this book for yourself. GIVE IT AWAY to all your improvement specialists - whether they use Minitab or not. This book definitely follows Dr. Juan's admonition to separate the "vital few" from the "trivial many." No fluff but a ton of useful stuff. I am a big fan now.

It is a great book to be able to use Minitab and more importantly understand the interpretation of the results. The parts of the book I liked most are related to hypothesis testing. The free downloadable resources means we do not need to input data but can directly open Minitab files and get on to using the book. I have purchased previous 2 editions of the book. This update for Minitab is just as well done. I recommend the book both for faculty/students and industry. In current times many people get free sample material to write biased feedback. I want to add that I received no free samples of any of the editions. I also rarely write reviews unless it a a great product (or horrible one). Thanks for reading my review.

Great summary book

In the SIX SIGMA courses -I got mine 4 weeks Black Belt training course in 2008- you learn a lot of tools..one of the difficulties you may experience is fitting them in a rational fashion inside the DMAIC frameset. Here it is the strong point of this book: it is a well designed summary with a complete and exhaustive set of tools smartly divided in the DMAIC structure.
One can easily find when a tool can be used, how to recall it in MINITAB and how the results can be interpreted.
Basically, to me, THIS IS NOT a book intended for understanding what SIX SIGMA is, it is not addressed to newcomers but has to be intended as to be a really very good schematic summary of the subject. No statistical proofings, no mathematical explanations (only few of them when necessary).
3rd edition sa been enreached by new chapters regarding DOEs and Lean matters. Also the chapters on the software Quality Companion is not that bad. I like Quality Companion: it is the perferct software for keeping track of your improvement projects and for writing nice presentations for the customer or the management about your projects ongoing.

A very Powerful Technique that anyone can do

I own one of Vianna's previous books, Go up and Work with God, and I've got to say this one is more than "expanded" as the title suggests. This is a whole new book, organized with way more flow and chalked full of 'extra' information and detail.
I personally use the technique taught in this book and learned it directly from the book. I took no course, just read the book and followed the instructions, it's that easy! I can feel tremendous energy and am having fantastic results!
Out of all the energy medicine books I've read this is the best. It's a hands on technique, little theory with a whole lot of practical.
Highly recommended for the beginner, novice and expert practitioner.

Best I've seen

OK, there are misspellings and grammatical mistakes, big deal, the information is really neat, and more importantly, it WORKS. This book is packed with useful information. I read it 5 times through, getting useful stuff each time. I have been able to master her methods from the book, though I do also plan to take a seminar. I got more results faster with this book than any other. She doesn't just talk about feelings, she notes that you can download feelings you lack. This book, along with Richard Bartlett's Matrix Energetics: The Science and Art of Transformation, was highly recommended in a LOA course I took. I went back and forth between them, which helped me understand each of them better. No rehashes here, this lady got her stuff pure. I got a copy for my daughter, for someone at work, and for my wife. I sent copies of her previous books to other friends. I have one thing to say on this book: YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now Vianna may perhaps have gotten somewhat too full of herself, in the last few years. She has detractors on the web. The book itself is good. I would probably not take any courses with Vianna, based on what her students have told me, but then again I don't need to, I have this book. Now you do have to enter into the Theta state, the zero point state, the state of pure consciousness, for any of this to work.The Secret of Instant Healing, The Physics of Miracles: Tapping in to the Field of Consciousness Potential, Dowsing and Manifesting, Healing with Quantum Energy and DNA Demystified, Volume 1: A Practical Guide to Reprogramming the 13 Helixes at Zero Point approach this subject from similar places. I tried the techniques myself, and they worked for me. The detractors seem to want to force every theory into their own little boxes. This doesn't work. You have to enter into the world of the author of any book, to understand it. When I was studying calculus, which I found difficult, I had to enter it from the textbook author's viewpoint, to do anything. I couldn't force that text into my own restricted ideas. Same with this. The people giving it high marks do so from inside the book; the detractors clearly never entered into what the book is talking about. Oh well. One energy/feeling I downloaded was for my life to be better than the best I could imagine, a la Neville Goddard. At work, they did a workload equalization, which I hadn't seen or heard of in 20 years. Things aren't perfect, but they are- yes- better than the best I could have imagined, when I started. When my newborn daughter was in the hospital, she was getting vaccines, which would give her high fevers, really high, enough that the nurses got really nervous. I alternated between Matrix Energetics and this book, as this was all I had to read for 3 weeks in the hospital as I stayed with my daughter- my wife was sick- and each time, the fevers went down. Of course this was no kind of medical treatment, only an altering of patterns, however I was very convinced the book was useful. Other problems just kind of melted away. This book, and the other books I've cited, are the first steps into the world of human scale Quantum Mechanics, out of the Cartesian/Newtonian paradigm that physics left over 100 years ago, but which society is only now starting to leave. Books on shamanic work make a lot more sense in the light of Theta Healing. Heck, there are scientists who think we are only a bunch of chemicals. That's fine- but that is only their viewpoint. I want as many viewpoints as I can get- as with Neils Bohr's multi-model concept- so I can get some idea of what is real. This book helped and helps me.

Andre Gingrich is Full Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna. Recent publications include Anthropology, by Comparison (co-edited with Richard G. Fox, 2002) and One Discipline, Four Ways: British, German, French, and American Anthropology: The Halle lectures (co-authored with Frederik Barth, Robert Parkin and Sydel Silverman, University of Chicago Press, forthcoming).

Marcus Banks is Professor of Visual Anthropology at the University of Oxford, and author of Organizing Jainism in India and England (Clarendon Press, 1992); Ethnicity: Anthropological Constructions (Routledge, 1996) and Visual Methods in Social Research (Sage, 2001), as well as numerous journal articles and book contributions.

A detailed guide to everything cosplay

When it comes to fandom, I'm enthusiastic and I've always wanted to get involved, but I'm admittedly uncreative in the worst way. A lot of my friends are into cosplay and making costumes for events, so I decided to give this a read and see if it sparked something within me to get creative and bring my hobby to the next level.

I love that this book covers the fact that being a fan is a passive undertaking, and that the creative portion of cosplaying is a challenge. Especially for someone like me with little imagination about how to make a great costume happen. I enjoyed learning about the history of cosplay as well; its really interesting to see where things began and how that shapes the way we enjoy being ACTIVE fans (as opposed to passive ones) in present-day. All of the photos are a lot of fun to look at; sometime that really gives this ebook the character is needed.

What I got this book for—and what I enjoyed the most—was the in-depth information about how to plan a costume from someone who has clearly designed, created, and showcased more than a few. The common mistakes that were discussed were very helpful; things like the time needed, typical costs, and the upheaval that can be caused by subpar quality parts for your costume are all things I desperately needed insight on.

I'm pretty good with makeup (my only strong suit when it comes to cosplay) but there are so many great tips for elaborate special FX makeup, such as the use of fake scars and silicone pieces. I loved learning a little bit more that I can implement in my costumes.

If you're looking for something that discusses all of the ins and outs of cosplay, creating a costume, and preparing for conventions, this is a really interesting read. It contains so many practical pieces of wisdom that I never would have thought of until I ran into expensive or embarrassing problems.

Cosplay – The Beginner’s Masterclass is a super way to learn Cosplay at all levels. I am so impressed with the depth that the authors have gone with each area that they cover here. I thought I had an understanding of it all, but I had no idea all the history, backstory, and the fascinating subcultures that are delved into and explored with an enlightening introduction of all things Cosplay. I really like all the different outfits, wigs and props, but the thing I’m most interested in is making my own outfits and even looking to make stuff for conventions and event work, maybe to sell. The book has idea after fantastic idea for patterns, and a great look at equipment and tools to help you out with all your outfit ideas and extras. Such a great book for all this, but then you get to the chapter on convention survival and you really get the inside scoop, I will be able to double my convention time, maybe even more, with all the helpful tricks and tips that are covered here and I can’t wait.

Definitely a masterclass!

For a cosplay book aimed for beginners, this is definitely very comprehensive and packed with information. I think cosplay is very interesting and I've wanted to get into it for some time, but I don't know where to start. This is perfect if you're like me! The book is divided into five parts, for ease of navigation and just general organizational purposes: for example, part one is just on the background of cosplay, part two is on planning, part three covers construction... and so on. I was really amazed with how detailed this book is, and it even covers information on cosplay conventions! There are also plenty of photographs and captions that illustrate the information presented in the book. I also found it to be very easy to read. This book has really given me a sense of where to start when it comes to cosplay, and it is less intimidating now that I've read this book.
