Having played with a practitioner in this style before I found the book to be useful as a review. Writing style could have been greater as author is clearly an amateur. But with that said the author does a good job presenting a lot of good information.

A splendid introduction of this rare branch of wing chun.

This appears to be the first, and only, book published in english on this relatively rare branch of wing chun. It covers, among other things, the history of this branch of wing chun (which may be eye-opening to those of other lineages), the basics, the twelve conceptual methods, and the sup yee sik (the twelve forms) - my favorite section of the book. Coming as I do from Yip Man's wing chun lineage, I've always been intrigued, and never really understood, this training platform.� However, the book's explanations and application photographs finally clarified for me how the concepts are extracted from these general techniques and then expanded and/or linked to create new and surprising applications.�
Two other aspects of the book make it particularly noteworthy. The first was that the demonstration of the siu lien tao, wing chun's first form, was by Ngo Lui-Kay, one of Grandmaster Sum Nung's personal disciples.� And second, the author avoided the hackneyed combat applications that are all too common in wing chun books and instead presented richer, more interesting technical expressions.�
It's really a fine effort - and one not to be missed.

If you must choose one book => this one !!

Sorry for my english (I'm french). I'm practicing martial arts since about 15 years now (fist/foot boxing + tai chi) and discovered wing chun about 1 year ago. I read lot of books on wing chun (I think "most" of them) because I'm leaving in the countryside and can't get easily class of wing chun (a pity). Anyhow, I manage to train daily .
Rene Ritchie - & Ngo Lui Kay sifu - book is BY FAR the finest I bought. It covers 12 simple attack/defensive mvts + the 1st form. EACH mvt of the 1st form is shown with splendid & reallistic explanations + fighting applications that allow you to really possess the form and to train even if you are no more a beginner. Each applications is VERY cleverly choosen to light a new concept of the mvt of the form.
Thank you so much M.Ritchie for this book. I'm waiting for the next books YOU MUST WROTE : the ones on 2nd/3rd form and wooden dummy :)

Was just the perfect book for my best friend. I love him but he is really shy and i was looking for a good book to help him with his shyness. I was sure that with this really clear and precise guide, spending all his time on his tablet will finally help him a lot! And it did! He feels already some positive reactions in front of him from girls, and seems (at least to start) really more confident! Im proud of him, and I advise every shy or unconfident boy to have a look on this book!!

I wasn't sure what to think when i first saw this title - another book of empty promises?? but i figured that at this price what's the harm. Reading it was exactly what i needed to get me off my butt and get out there talking to girls. I've got a bunch of numbers in the last couple of days and it looks like I'm on track for a girlfriend for valentines day! If you're reading things and thinking could this really work for you, just take my advice and don't let another guy take your perfect girl before you get to her!!! Highly recommended !

This well written book makes accessible a fascinating period of history -- the fate of slaves in the Caribbean after emanicipation and the further hurdles that were put in place to prevent full participatory democracy. Anyone who has doubts as to the real causes of prolonged instability in the region (Western meddling) will probably find this book enlightening and compelling.

About the Author

Judy Strauss is Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is an award winning author of 12 books and numerous academic papers in Internet marketing, advertising, and marketing education. Strauss is co-author of the trade book Radically Transparent: Monitoring and Managing Reputations Online, and textbooks Building Effective Web Sites and the E-Marketing Guide. She has had many years of professional experience in marketing, serving as entrepreneur as well as marketing director of two firms. She currently teaches undergraduate and M.B.A. courses in marketing communications, Internet marketing, and marketing management and has won two college-wide teaching awards. Strauss earned a doctorate in marketing at Southern Illinois University, and a finance M.B.A. and marketing B.B.A. at University of North Texas.

Raymond D. Frost is a Professor of Management Information Systems at Ohio University. He has published scholarly papers in the information systems and marketing fields and is an associate editor of The Journal of Database Management. Frost is co-author of Building Effective Web Sites and the E-Marketing Guide. Dr. Frost teaches database, electronic commerce, and information design courses. He has received Ohio University’s Presidential, University Professor, College of Business, and Senior Class teaching awards. Dr. Frost is working on publications in data modeling and database pedagogy. He is co-author of a forthcoming book, A Visual Introduction to Database: An E-Business Perspective. Dr. Frost earned a doctorate in business administration and an M.S. in computer science at the University of Miami (Florida), and received his B.A. in philosophy at Swarthmore College.

Decent but lacks real-world applicability and nuts-and-bolts

This book provides a lot of background on e-marketing for someone who has little knowledge of marketing which is part of its downfall because it spends too much time on basics. What this book lacks is a detailed explanation of applicable material to prepare a person to create an e-marketing business plan and then effectively implement it with real world tools. Having read this book as part of an MBA program, I was disappointed at the lack of explanation on the process of connecting websites with social media with mobile devices, etc. Don't get me wrong, it touched on it, but I was looking for the nuts-and-bolts and this gave the view from 5000 feet.

I am using this book for my e-marketing class, and I have to say it is "O.K.". It is a very interesting book, but everything in it is black and white (isn't marketing usually more on the flashy, and colorful side?). The statistics and information in the book is very old (2011 ish).
Altogether good book, and I think I would even buy it without having to use it for class

Containers and materials are described and a pattern chart is included. The troubleshooting section is quite useful. Projects are mostly for smaller items such as cards and bookplates that do not require a large tank of marbling solution. This does not include the advanced techniques found in Diane Maurer-Mathison's The Ultimate Marbling Handbook, but as a guide for beginners it is very useful.
