Grade 3-6-Hehner begins her story on July 16, 1969, as the Saturn V rocket that would propel Apollo 11 toward its target stands on the launchpad at Cape Kennedy. She fills in some background by describing a tour of the facility that Buzz Aldrin gave his family six weeks earlier, focusing especially on Aldrin's 11-year-old daughter, Jan. The author then returns to the launchpad, resuming the countdown and follows the three astronauts on their historic mission, ending with the coast-to-coast ticker-tape parades on August 13, 1969. A brief epilogue sketches in a few highlights of later lunar flights; a time line of "Milestones in Space" and a brief glossary complete the book. In describing the mission, Hehner frequently returns to the Aldrin family, telling what they were doing and thinking during those long days. The informative and entertaining text is illustrated with an abundance of full-color and black-and-white photographs as well as paintings. Occasional sidebars offer additional information on the Saturn V rocket, space meals, the lunar module, and reentry. Michael Cole's Apollo 11 (Enslow, 1995) is comparable in scope, using fewer pictures and providing a bit more background on the three astronauts. Cole also footnoted quotations used in his text, something Hehner neglected to do. Nonetheless, First on the Moon will be useful for reports; pertinent information is clearly presented and easily extracted. The oversized format and attractive layout will draw browsers, and those just looking for a readable space adventure will find it here.

From the I Was There series, this book describes the NASA mission that culminated in a walk on the moon. From the outset, the focus is split between astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins, and Aldrin's daughter Jan, who watched the events on television. The attempt to include Jan's point of view brings little to the narrative, since children need no intermediary to help them relate to the story of Apollo 11. Indeed, when the text shifts from Jan watching the television set in her living room to events in space, the pace quickens, and the story becomes much more absorbing. Similarly, the idealized paintings of Jan and her family are much less effective than photographs of the family and those of the astronauts, their equipment, and even mission control. Many excellent photos and diagrams illustrate the main story. Timelines, a glossary, and a brief bibliography are appended. Carolyn Phelan

The author shows how complex problems can be decomposed and solved using just a few simple lines of code, and hopefully to inspire up and coming researchers. The topics covered are guided by the real problems observed over many years as a practitioner of both robotics and computer vision. It is written in a light but informative style, it is easy to read� and absorb, and includes a lot of Matlab examples and figures. The book is a real walk through the fundamentals of robot kinematics, dynamics and joint level control, then camera models, image processing, feature extraction and epipolar geometry, and bring it all together in a�visual servo system.

Great book!

This is a great book for those who want to practice robotic concepts in MATLAB! The (free) robotics toolbox is a great tool to work with manipulators, and the book has several examples with real robots (like the famous PUMA). It also has some useful tools for mobile robots, but it only deals with the car-like and the quadrotor models. It misses the widely applied unicycle model, although it is ease to adapt the toolbox to work with the unicycle as well.
I didn't have time to get to the machine vision part, but the final part of the book unites robotics and machine vision, dealing with visual control for robots.
I think it is a very nice book for everybody that works with robotics!

Checkmate picks up with all the drama that Coca Kola left us with. Apple is trapped in the whorehouse waiting on Chico to hopefully rescue her, while being degraded more and more by the day. Even though I didn't like Apple you couldn't help but to feel sorry for her, with all that she was going through. Kola is still hurting from Cross's betrayal, but still flooding the streets with product. Eduardo (Kola's supplier) is still trying his best to get her to be his woman. Edge was up to his usual antics trying to get at Kola and trying to turn Cross against her as well. We are introduced to some new characters like Two-Face and he definitely lives up to his name. And Denise, the twins mother, is still up to no good and getting on everyone's nerves. There is still a war going on between Chico and Kola, but while Chico constantly thinks of Apple, Kola could care less. Kola's enemies are stacking up by the day, while Apple is still plotting her revenge. Will Apple make it out of the whorehouse? Will Kola lose the war against Chico? I read this book in one sitting and I wasn't ready for it to end. People are slipping and getting careless and I can't wait to see who will finally claim the throne. If you liked Bad Apple and Coca Kola then you will love this one.

Miss Santiago has done it again and continues to amaze. This is the third series of the Kola and Apple. The book picks up exactly where Koca Kola left off. I have to say it was a tough read because of the circumstances surrounding Apple. Like they say karma can come back and bite you in the ass.I cant wait for the fourth part. I hope Miss Santiago releases it soon. She is an excellent writer and I highly recommend all her books.

All I can say is wow! This book was a true page turner. I love Nisa Santiago's storylines. Full of drama and twists. A must read. I can't wait for the next installment. I'm curious to see what will come of Apple and Kola.....

Well laid out for studying to the test

Passing the 70-291 examination by itself will make you a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). It also counts as one third of the requirements for Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and one sixth of the way to Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

This book covers the 70-291 test from beginning to end. It starts with the basics of TCP/IP and goes on to the installation, supporting and troubleshooting the various networking components and services included with Windows Server 2003. It covers the other services integrated into Windows Server 2003 that will be on the test such as DHCP, DNA, Active Directory and all the rest.

The structure of the book is organized by the exam objectives. Within this structure is the information needed to pass the test along with alerts pointing out critical points, listing the key terms, pointing out problems, and exercises.
