Another Great Swindle Story

Unleashed is the seventh book in the popular Swindle series by Gordon Korman. Each book stands on its own and is about the gang of Griffin Bing and his group of his friends. Griffin is the Man with The Plan and the books are about kids doing stuff and taking matters into their own hands.
This book starts out with action as the kids have an invention contest at their school. Everyone assumes Griffin will be able to make a great invention because his dad's an inventor, but he knows it's not going to be that easy. He and his worst nemesis Darren Vader make a bet on who will win the contest.
When Griffin tries to enlist his friend Melissa's technological skills to help him, it creates a riff in the group as another friend, Pitch, claims that Griffin is looking down on her because she's a girl. Of course the charge is ridiculous, but it splits them up.
At the same time, Luthor, Savannah's pet dog, is constantly going into the street and chasing a particular car. There's nothing she can do about it except for keep him locked in the basement, so Melissa invents a gadget that prevents Luthor from running off. Griffin tries to invent a muffler for his vacuum cleaner, but it ends up knocking out the power of the entire house. Melissa's invention gets stolen, however, causing her to become very upset and simply stay in her room.
Griffin and the gang gets back together to help Melissa, but nothing will do the trick. They decide they have to track down Melissa's invention, and you won't believe who took their invention and what they do to get it back. A good character introduced is their new neighbor, a surly man with hyper-concern about the government whose knowledge turns out to be key for their extraction mission.
This is a crazy and fun book and another great edition to the series. The plot is not too original, because things being stolen and the kids pulling off a heist aren't new in the series, but Korman makes it great by injecting humor and fun into every pages. Kids love Korman, and they'll love Unleashed too!

My 9, soon to be 10 year old son really likes this series and was very excited when this book came out. He has been reading the series for a couple years now, they are funny and usually have a morality lesson encompassing the story.
